Message There was definitely plenty of reason between '04-'06 to cause resentment on her part. I spent way too much time and money on my last Z in Japan. When I got this Z in 2007, she naturally was afraid it would happen again. It didn't help matters when my engine died in '09. It took almost 9k (and 2 years) to get it to the place where it is at now. The difference is that the latter was spent trying to get my daily driver (it was at the time) back on the road. Now, I have the Kia Optima so she views the car as an expensive play thing that serves no other purpose than to create arrogant pride and take me away from the family.

Is the initial resentment justified? Certainly! Is the current resentment justified? Not in my opinion. It is just amplified because of past resentment and history. I have grown weary of hearing it over the last 7 years. First, I spent too much time on it so it need to go. Now, I spend too little time on it so there is no point in keeping it. There will never be a middle ground and I'm just not sure it is worth it anymore. The thought crushes me and there is sure to be resentment but the difference is that I am flexible and will eventually get over it. The same obviously cannot be said for her. It really boils down to what I am willing or not willing to do to get this stumbling block out of the picture. Leaving the Z parked hasn't done the trick. It appears the only thing left is to give in and sell.

Never Play Leapfrog With A Unicorn!!!

Do yourself a favor and just worry about your own car. I don't see what everyone is so worried about anyway. If someone else wants to perform a modification that you believe will destroy the value, cheapen the Z32 or whatever you can't sit on your hands about, wouldn't that make your tastefully-modified, white bread Z32 more rare and valuable? -- BradZ (FL) on December 23, 2007 at 12:19 PM
